Been meaning to write about this for ages, but better late than never I guess?! The Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara has caused quite a bit of a... er, well, sensation. The perhaps lesser-known lash serum that's part of the range didn't appear to make quite as big of an impact on beauty influencers. But, as a sucker for Good Lash Products, I wanted to try the pair.

I've been using this mascara for over a year now. I'm not a particularly loyal beauty user when it comes to products - I find more enjoyment trying new things than sticking with tried and trusted products. But there are a few things I tend to regularly go back to, and this is one of them!

Sadly, the same can't be said for the lash serum. It was fine; I liked the applicator (usually lash serums come with a liner-like brush, whereas this one had a mascara-like wand, which I felt as easier to apply to the base of the lashes as well as for nourishing the lengths). However, I didn't notice any huge changes to the appearance of my lashes, even after using this twice daily for a significant period. To be honest, I have yet to find a lash serum that REALLY works (any recommendations?)

But let's talk about the star of the show - the mascara! The wand (pictured above - ignore the blue cast to this photo, I was having tech issues) has short plastic bristles on one side, and longer bristles on the other. I use the shorter bristles for both the top and lower lashes and find it's a really nice shape to get into that tight inner corner, as well as right to the base of the lashes. In my opinion, this mascara is both a thickening and lengthening mascara. As it gets to the end of the tube, you'll find a tad more clumping (nothing a good brush-through with a clean spooly won't fix - I'm not a fan of the clumpy look, personally). I also found it layers up really nicely with other mascaras (TOP TIP - use two different mascaras layered over one another for achieve LOOOONG and thick-looking lashes!)

So! Would I buy it again? Er, well, I already have. Retailing at around £9.99 (but for an absolute steal at £6.66 on the Boots website currently), it's a complete bargain. I've tried far more expensive premium brand mascaras over the years, but honestly, this is one of those products you really don't need to go pricey for. This is a great staple mascara that I think everyone will get on with. What is your favourite mascara? M x
